CLARIFICATION
ANNOUNCEMENT
China
Eastern Airlines Corporation Limited (the “Company”)
noted
recent press coverage regarding the merger of the Company and Shanghai Airlines
(上海航空)
indicating that the Company together with Shanghai Airlines (上海航空)
are
planning the details of the restructuring and the related proposal. The Company
hereby clarifies as follows:
After
inquiring with China Eastern Air Holding Company, the controlling shareholder
of
the Company, and all the directors and the management of the Company, the
Company was informed that as of today, other than the proposed cooperation
with
Singapore Airlines Limited, which has been discussed, approved and disclosed
by
the board of directors of the Company previously, the Company has neither
engaged in any discussion or negotiation with any other airline companies
regarding any proposed restructuring, nor formulated any timetable thereof.
The
Company will strictly comply with its disclosure obligations in accordance
with
the relevant procedures for disclosure of information should there be any
major
development of the Company.
Shareholders
and potential investors of the Company should exercise caution when dealing
in
the shares of the Company and take note of the risks associated with their
