Item 8.01. Other Events

 

On September 13, 2004, the board of directors of Wells Real Estate Investment Trust, Inc. (the “Registrant”) declared dividends for the third quarter of 2004 in the amount of $0.175 (17.5 cents) per share to the stockholders of record of such shares as shown on the books of the Corporation at the close of business on September 15, 2004. The Registrant expects to pay such dividends during the month of September 2004.
