ANNOUNCEMENT
This announcement is made pursuant to Rule 13.09 of the Rules Governing the Listing of Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (the Listing Rules).
The board of directors (the Board) of China Telecom Corporation Limited (the Company) notes the recent coverage by the press in connection with the Company being the subject of an investigation by the National Development and Reform Commission of the Peoples Republic of China over alleged monopolistic conducts in the broadband access market.
The Company wishes to state that it has always been providing its broadband services strictly in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations. The Company will fully co-operate with the relevant regulatory authorities on the investigation. Further announcements will be made by the Company in the above connection as and when appropriate in accordance with the Listing Rules.
In the meantime, investors are advised to exercise caution in dealing in the securities of the Company.
