The All-Woman philanthropists pledge to raise funds for area nonprofits at quarterly events
SAN ANTONIO, TX, February 22, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lana Duke stands up to adversity, whether it's a recession in the early 2000's or a global pandemic. The owner/operator of Ruth's Chris Steak Houses in the Alamo City is marking ten years in the Grand Hyatt River Walk Hotel, twenty-four in Downtown, and a total of thirty years in San Antonio. A ribbon cutting celebration was held on January 27, 2024, at 600 East Market Street to celebrate the milestone.
"The pandemic created a variety of challenges for us, said Duke. "All three of our San Antonio locations bounced back, with many of our employees rejoining the team after temporary closures. Out of something bad, comes something good."
Duke is a former foster child and survivor of childhood abuse. For nearly two decades, she hosts a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings for the children who live at Roy Maas Youth Alternatives shelters. She reminds the children that being a foster child did not define her future and will not define them.
That drive to help others is why she has created the Power of 100 San Antonio, a group made up of like-minded San Antonio area women dedicated to philanthropy and fellowship. At a quarterly luncheon, they will award $10,000 to a local nonprofit.
"We've got to do our part to help those in need, said Duke. "There is power in collective giving. In one evening, we will award up to $10,000 to a nonprofit that will make a huge impact on their organization."
