From Campus To Community: Duluth's Historic High School Site Reimagined As Scenic Incline Village Neighborhood

DULUTH, MN / ACCESSWIRE / January 13, 2025 / Duluth is the site of a new housing development that aims to transform a former high school into a scenic hilltop community. Called Incline Village, it's the latest project of New York-based developer Luzy Ostreicher and is reportedly the second-largest private investment in the city.

Ostreicher selected Duluth for his next undertaking after being impressed by the city's residential and business potential. During a visit in 2016, he took note of the community spirit displayed by the locals and their passion for their shared heritage.

Ostreicher was joined by his family during the groundbreaking of Incline Village on December 10, 2024. The occasion was marked by the family's gift to the city of a Hanukkah menorah, an important symbol of their Orthodox Jewish faith. The offering signified Ostreicher's personal journey in Duluth and his inspiration for investing in the city.

Incline Village is presented as a transformational project that will offer many key benefits to Duluth. Its construction is a significant milestone in the city's history, being situated on the site of the former Central High School. The school itself was a well-known and well-loved historical landmark, so its replacement by such an important residential and business complex is considered especially meaningful.

Incline Village is being built on a panoramic hill offering spectacular views of the surrounding city and Lake Superior. With an estimated cost of $450 million to $500 million, the project will have 1,180 apartments and 120 condominiums over multiple buildings when completed. There will also be several retail establishments and public spaces, which will include trail connections and a pavilion.

Construction on the project will take place in three phases spanning seven to 10 years. The first building is a 70-unit condominium at the front of the property with the best views the location has to offer. Completion of the condo complex is expected by mid-2026.
