About Mr. Sam Desai Sr.
Mr. Desai is a seasoned professional with a remarkable career that bridges military service and civilian industry. He has been with MCT Industries since 2011, serving as the director of business development. In this role, Mr. Desai is responsible for sales, which includes researching proposals, analyzing data, securing contracts and providing technical support as a subject matter expert. His work connects the military and civilian sectors, addressing issues with GSE worldwide.
Before transitioning to the civilian sector, Mr. Desai dedicated 30 years to the U.S. Air Force, rising to the rank of chief master sergeant, the highest enlisted rank in the Air Force. Throughout his military career, Mr. Desai took on numerous critical roles, including senior enlisted leader for several operational units. His expertise in aircraft maintenance and GSE was integral to his leadership, particularly during his time as the superintendent of aircraft maintenance for the Air Force's largest stateside and deployed aircraft maintenance groups.
A Notable Military Career
Mr. Desai's military career also included work as a GSE equipment manager for the Air Mobility Command, where he oversaw GSE acquisitions and equipment training for personnel. Additionally, he served as a senior enlisted leader for the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center, where he led and performed joint operational testing of numerous systems for overall mission capability in realistic environments. His career has brought him to over 40 countries, 49 states and several U.S. territories, with notable efforts in Panama redeploying upgraded tools and equipment and also modernizing aircraft de-icing systems and processes for critical airlift. These innovations proved crucial during combat operations in Afghanistan.
Mr. Desai was deployed to Qatar, Iraq and Afghanistan as the command chief for the Combined Joint Special Operations Air Component, where he provided leadership during combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and operations in the Horn of Africa. His leadership in these high-stakes environments earned Mr. Desai several awards, including the Bronze Star Medal and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.
Transitioning to a Civilian Career
After retiring from the military, Mr. Desai expanded his skill set by studying marketing and accounting, which allowed him to adapt quickly to the civilian business world. His ability to learn new practical skills has been a cornerstone of his success in transitioning to a civilian role in which he now makes significant contributions to MCT Industries' business development.
Outside of his professional career, Mr. Desai is committed to giving back to his community. He has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also enjoys spending time with his family, particularly his twin sons and grandchildren, and remains active in his community church, where he participates in Sunday school.

Looking ahead, Mr. Desai plans to focus on recreation, health and spending more time with his family.
