Marquis Who's Who Honors Elizabeth A. Baker for Success in Technology Sales

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / June 9, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Elizabeth A. Baker for success in technology sales. Ms. Baker, who has been the vice president of private pricing at Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) for the past 9 years, has been a steadfast presence in the global technology sector. With 30+ years in the profession, she has a reputation for delivering results through people-first leadership. It's a model grounded in fairness, high integrity, accountability and relentless customer focus.

Leadership Style with Proven Results

Ms. Baker success lies in strong intuition, relentless pursuit of the vision and the ability to coach others towards high standards while delivering results. She attributes her success to being hands-on, including being deeply involved in day-to-day operations and a product-driven philosophy centered on the customer base she serves. She also encourages limited delegation of key tasks. Under her leadership, AWS' Private Pricing team grew from just five people to more than 700 across 27 countries and epic growth in average deal size and total TCV. Her mission is to help customers achieve their goals with AWS Cloud and drive $500 billion in commitment backlog. "The only way to do that is to work backwards from our customer and make sure that we have a product (Private Pricing) that delights them, hire a stellar leadership team that is focused on the vision and execution of the vision, and has the passion to succeed," she said.

Ms. Baker leads Global Deal Strategy and Programs, which includes the Private Pricing Programs, and a specialized global deal pursuits team called Strategic Customer Engagements, which tackles the company's most strategic and complex deals. "You need to be able to dive deep to understand customer questions, while looking around corners," she said. "And then you have to deliver - not just any results - epic results, which are based on a foundation of integrity and high standards that earn trust with all customers."

A Mission to Pay it Forward

Mentorship plays a key role in Ms. Baker's professional life. As a mentor, she dedicates her time to developing future leaders, especially young women in the tech industry. "I'm proud. I have about 40% women in my team, which is fantastic," she said.

Many colleagues and former employees continue to seek her guidance years after working with or for Ms. Baker. "I have been blessed throughout my career to have individuals follow me and watch them grow into amazing leaders when they are given the opportunity to perform and build," she said.

A Career Built on High-Stakes Success

Before joining AWS, Ms. Baker spent most of her career at Oracle and SAP managing global pursuit teams and designing new commercial models to support the business, including cloud adoption. Ms. Baker has consistently created and led top-performing teams throughout her career while being recognized for her leadership, strategy and commercial design work.

Ms. Baker holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Berry College and a master's degree in finance and statistics from the University of St. Thomas. Ms. Baker is also the co-author of "The Art of Influence and the Science Behind It," a book that explores how insights into temperaments can enhance collaboration and performance when building a team and engaging with customers. It's a resource she has used to train teams at Oracle, SAP and AWS.

Gen AI, Growth and Grit

When asked about Gen AI, Ms. Baker said it is here and will change the fabric of the way we live and do business.

Ms. Baker's leadership has helped shape AWS into what she refers to as a "$125 billion startup." In other words, it's a large yet agile, focused yet humble organization. Aside from hard work and leadership, she credits her achievements to family members Greg, Preston, Marshall and Shelby. Additionally, she acknowledges the support of mentors and peers throughout her career.

"Be bold and focus on the impact that you can deliver," Ms. Baker said. "Because if you do that, you will create something epic."
