New pilot with Microsoft Dragon Copilot to transform workflows for bedside nurses with hands-free documentation
Artisight today announced a pilot to transform clinical workflows by extending Microsoft Dragon Copilot with the Artisight Smart Hospital Platform. Connecting Artisight and Dragon Copilot will bring ambient AI technology into the hospital room itself, creating a hands-free and device-free documentation interface for nurses.
At the core of this capability is Artisight’s ability to pair each nurse’s unique voice profile with their real-time location system (RTLS) badge for two-factor authentication for security, eliminating the need for a device, manual logins or physical contact with shared workstations. With this collaboration, documentation can happen in the background while nurses walk into the room and start caring for their patients.
“Nurses are under immense pressure to balance patient care with administrative requirements,” said Dr. Andrew Gostine, CEO of Artisight. “By removing technology barriers like logins, phones, and computers from the bedside, we’re enabling more meaningful face-to-face interactions and creating the kind of patient care experience every clinician in the world wishes they had.”
The pilot is currently underway at a leading hospital innovation center, with plans for a finalized extension with Microsoft Dragon Copilot following comprehensive clinical validation. During the initial pilot, nurses said they were able to document with higher frequency, and the AI-generated clinical summaries delivered a clearer, more accurate reflection of the care provided during the encounter. Nurses also said the hands-free platform would better enable them to provide hands-on patient care and save time on documentation. Hospitals can expect measurable improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
“Artisight’s collaboration with Microsoft Dragon Copilot will enable clinicians to streamline clinical and administrative tasks, reduce burden, and ultimately focus more on patient care,” said Peter Durlach, CVP, Chief Strategy Officer, Microsoft Health & Life Sciences. “Together, we will unlock new levels of efficiency in the hospital setting and bring ambient intelligence directly into everyday workflows.”
This development builds on Artisight’s mission to unify hospital operations through AI-powered computer vision, ambient sensors, and real-time communication. Smart hospital rooms equipped with these capabilities showcase the future of healthcare delivery—where technology fades into the background and clinicians can dedicate their attention to what matters most: caring for patients.
