WSFS CARES Foundation Provides $100,000 to Combat Rising Food Insecurity

The WSFS CARES Foundation, the charitable giving arm of WSFS Financial Corporation (Nasdaq: WSFS), announced today it will contribute $100,000 to four regional food banks addressing a significant surge in the need for food assistance across Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey.

The WSFS CARES Foundation funding will support Philabundance ($50,000), Food Bank of Delaware ($25,000), and Food Bank of South Jersey ($25,000). This grant will also include $10,000 going to the Chester County Food Bank through Philabundance. The four recipient organizations serve hundreds of thousands of residents across the tri-state region through direct food distribution, mobile food pantries, and partnerships with community organizations.

"Our nonprofit partners are on the frontlines of supporting some of the most vulnerable populations in our communities. We recognize our responsibility to respond decisively during this challenging time," said Patrick J. Ward, Executive Vice President, Senior Advisor at WSFS Bank and Chairman of the WSFS CARES Foundation. "This $100,000 funding reflects our ongoing commitment to addressing food insecurity across our communities."

"We are grateful to the WSFS CARES Foundation for this contribution. It will help provide thousands of meals to families in need during challenging times," said Loree Jones-Brown, Director of Philabundance. "The demand for food assistance continues to rise, and this support is truly making a difference."

"The financial support from the WSFS CARES Foundation allows us to reach more individuals with 75,000 nutritious meals and vital resources," said Larry Haas, Chief Development Officer of the Food Bank of Delaware. "We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to fighting hunger alongside us."

“We’re deeply grateful to WSFS CARES Foundation for stepping up at this critical time,” said Fred Wasiak, President & CEO, Food Bank of South Jersey. “This generous contribution will help us keep food moving through our network and ensure children, seniors, and individuals have access to the nourishment they need. Partnerships like this make it possible for us to respond quickly and effectively when our community needs us most.”

This contribution aligns with WSFS Bank’s annual food drive to support Sharing Excess and the Sunday Breakfast Mission. For those looking to support, nonperishable food donations can be dropped off at any WSFS banking office location until the end of the year.

In addition to financial support and donations, WSFS Associates are volunteering at food banks and pantries throughout the region.
