The experience draws attention to the species that once ruled the planet and underscores how environmental change led to their extinction – a powerful reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of protecting wildlife today.
New this year, paleontologists-in-training will explore 11 new dinosaurs and pterosaurs, making their debut on a trail as they move and roar with cutting-edge animatronic technology.
Guests will uncover how these prehistoric species are connected to dinosaurs that are still alive today – birds. Along the trail, guests will encounter Dinosaur Safari Field Guides who will share new discoveries about these ancient animals, showcase each species, and illustrate some of the physical and behavioral adaptations used by many dinosaurs and modern-day wildlife.
Dinosaur Safari explorers will also experience:
- (NEW) Walkthrough Rib Cage Tunnel: Who else can say they’ve walked through a dinosaur rib cage? Take a walk through a life-sized Mamenchisaurus rib cage and see just how big these giants were when they walked the Earth.
- (NEW) Climbable Fossil: Climb on a life-sized Sinraptor fossil.
- (NEW) Dino Egg Photo Opp: Take unforgettable photos with family and friends at the two larger-than-life Maiasaura hatching eggs.
- Fossil Dig Site: Get hands-on with an immersive dig site where guests can dig up ancient fossils and discover the very latest scientific discoveries about dinosaurs.

The Bronx Zoo
The Bronx Zoo, located on 265 acres of hardwood forest in Bronx, NY, opened on Nov. 8, 1899. It is world-renowned for its leadership in the areas of animal welfare, husbandry, veterinary care, education, science and conservation. The zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and is the flagship park of the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) which manages the world’s largest network of urban wildlife parks including the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, Queens Zoo and New York Aquarium. Our curators and animal care staff work to save, propagate, and sustain populations of threatened and endangered species. We have educated and inspired more than 400 million visitors at our zoos and aquarium since our opening and host approximately 4 million guests at our parks each year – including about a half-million students annually. The Bronx Zoo is the largest youth employer in the borough of the Bronx, providing opportunity and helping to transform lives in one of the most under-served communities in the nation. The Bronx Zoo is the subject of THE ZOO, a docu-series aired world-wide on Animal Planet.
