Utah-based manufacturer protects patents by issuing approved legal agreement
US Synthetic Corporation, a leading provider of polycrystalline diamond cutters for oil and gas drilling, has chosen to settle an intellectual property dispute originating at the International Trade Commission (ITC).
“This license agreement not only protects US Synthetic’s intellectual property but also provides our customers with lawful, measured, and approved access to certain mid-tier products,” said Rob Galloway, President of US Synthetic. In addition, Rob stated, “US Synthetic has provided a limited license to Haimingrun, which validates US Synthetic’s patent portfolio and the importance of innovation.”
The dispute pertains to high-performance polycrystalline diamond compacts (PDCs) used in rotary drill bits which exhibit superior diamond-to-diamond bonding and/or other properties. The cost of development of new PDC technology is high, and US Synthetic is committed to maintaining innovation efforts to provide its premium PDC inserts.
