Mennonite in Motion: The Incredible Life of John Redekop

In Mennonite in Motion, John Redekop details his story about an epic journey across the Sahara on a motorcycle and his request, in the Kremlin, for religious freedom.

Dr. John Redekop’s life has been full of incredible twists and turns. From childhood days in the Saskatchewan dustbowl to winning many awards in the later years, this fascinating autobiography reads like a novel but is indeed a true story.

Mennonite in Motion recounts John’s struggles with many questions during university years and later in life, in finding God. Several miracles, he calls them, strengthened his faith. Once a hunter shot at him, mistaking him for big game. The book describes some major political developments from Senator Joseph McCarthy’s witch-hunt hearings in the 1950s to Donald Trump’s years and the chaotic US departure from Afghanistan. John also engages readers with the description of an epic journey on a motorcycle across the Sahara in the 1950s.

This unconventional story, however, goes above and beyond, describing a host of adventures. It also takes the reader along on a spiritual pilgrimage of a dedicated and faithful servant of Christ. John states, “I firmly believe that everything I’ve gone through in life has helped me find God. Even during the difficult and painful times, He did not give up on me. He showed me the pathway to go and gave me the courage and ability to do whatever I have accomplished.”

In describing many accomplishments as well as deep struggles and painful rejection, John’s honesty and candour provide a refreshing narrative.

The book highlights John’s activities in many countries. Several times, his life was in danger. He was stunned by the reaction of the congregation when preaching in Communist China. He was fearful when a Muslim officer in Libya thought he might be a Jewish spy. Together with three other western Christian leaders, he boldly challenged the Soviet Commissar for Religious Affairs, in the Kremlin, to grant freedom to Christians. He was humbled when he was awarded an honorary doctorate.

This remarkable and highly readable story, enhanced with two hundred and thirty pictures, is available on Amazon and Kindle.
