Buggyra ZM Racing's father-daughter duo ready for Rallye du Maroc as final Dakar preparation

For their second participation in the Rallye du Maroc (October 13-17), Buggyra ZM Racing will field father and daughter Martin and Aliyyah Koloc in separate Red-Lined T1+ entries.

-- Following a three-day test in the Moroccan desert, both drivers are focused on reliability and race strategy as they prepare for the 2026 Dakar Rally, competing in the Open Category.

Buggyra ZM Racing will enter two cars in the Open Category for the final round of the 2025 World Rally Raid Championship. Aliyyah Koloc will drive a turbo-charged Red-Lined Revo T1+ GTR with experienced French co-driver Sébastien Delauney, while her father Martin will compete in the non-turbo version of the Red-Lined T1+, co-driven by Italian Mirko Brun. The different car specifications will allow the team to measure performance gaps between the two variants.

Pre-rally testing in Morocco

Ahead of the rally, Buggyra ZM Racing conducted a three-day private test in the Moroccan desert. For Aliyyah, this preparation was particularly valuable after not driving the car since the Taklimakan Rally in China in May, as a planned test in Poland was nearly fully washed out.

"This test was very important for me to familiarize myself with the car again," Aliyyah explains. "I could run my full test program in the dunes in good conditions. The car worked well and I feel confident for the rally."

The main focus of the test was to assess the car's reliability and performance, gathering as much data as possible following the significant redesigns the mechanics had made since Aliyyah last drove the car in China.

The test also proved beneficial in unexpected ways. Martin Koloc, normally the Team Principal of Buggyra ZM Racing, offered his daughter valuable insights. "He showed me how to adjust my seating position, which actually worked really well. I can't believe I have never thought of it myself!" Aliyyah says. "We were also able to collect a lot of data, something my father is very good at."

Rally strategy and objectives

Performance won't be the main target for Buggyra ZM Racing at this event, as Martin Koloc explains. "We are not talking performance," he explains. "That's why we entered the Open Class, as we need to test for the Dakar and have the best possible preparation for it. In Morocco, we are looking for reliability and strategy."

The different car specifications serve a specific purpose. "We are trying to measure the gap in speed since the GTR is much faster," Martin points out. "Obviously, my car is slower, so I need to figure out how big a margin I should take for the race car to carry out my driving duty in the best possible way."

For this rally, Martin will take on a purely driving role. "I won't be the Team Principal for this rally. I cannot manage the team and drive the car at the same time. For this race, I am just a driver, and I will follow orders."

Both drivers acknowledge the challenge ahead. "You are never 100% prepared," Martin says. "You are always trying to sort out some last things; there is never enough time. We are prepared as much as we can, and we'll follow our plan."

Aliyyah adds: "Every testing kilometer counts, but you can never really simulate the race conditions. The main target of this race is to prepare and improve ahead of the Dakar Rally."

Event schedule

The Rallye du Maroc will take place from October 13 to 17, starting in Fez and ending in Erfoud. Over 100 competitors will participate in this final round of the 2025 World Rally Raid Championship, including some big names such as Nasser Al-Attiyah, Carlos Sainz, and Sébastien Loeb.

The rally will cover a total of 2,299 km with 1,478 km of special stages, featuring five different loops being run around the city from days two to five.
