There, she highlighted the regenerative power of RADIESSE® and the science of skin and skin aging. She outlined how internal and external factors go far in contributing to the breakdown of the extracellular matrix of the skin — also known as the dermis. This middle layer of skin is known for its fibrous structure and connective tissue and also features collagen and elastin, which are the proteins that keep the skin youthful, firm, and bouncy. These proteins are continually regenerating as part of cellular turnover, but the regenerative process that produces these proteins slows down with age and causes the skin to lose its structure.
