Vancouver, BC – TheNewswire - May 5, 2025 – Critical Infrastructure Technologies Ltd. (CSE: CTTT) (OTC: CITLF) (FRA: X9V) (“CiTech” or the “Company”), a leading developer of autonomous, high-capacity mobile communications platforms, is pleased to announce that it has received reports that its Nexus 16 communication platform performed flawlessly during a Category 3 cyclone maintaining critical connectivity when it mattered most and proving the resilience and reliability of its technology under extreme conditions.
On February 14, 2025, Cyclone Zelia tore through the Pilbara region, bringing destructive wind gusts of up to 224 km/h and passing directly over Atlas Iron’s A2 stockyard. Despite the storm’s intensity, the Company’s Nexus 16 communication platform demonstrated its superior durability and resilience.
As the cyclone approached, the Nexus 16’s advanced “Turtle Mode” feature was activated—an autonomous self-protection mechanism that retracts the tower and solar array to safeguard the system against catastrophic wind events. Despite enduring the full force of the storm, the Nexus 16 continued transmitting critical telemetry data to CiTech’s Network Operations Centre (NOC) throughout the event.
Once the cyclone passed and Atlas Iron’s team deemed conditions safe, the Nexus 16 was automatically redeployed, restoring full communication and video services to the stockyard. No manual intervention was required beyond repairs to a fixed communications tower 53 km away, which had sustained cyclone damage.
“This was a crucial real-world test that simply couldn’t be replicated in a simulated environment,” said Andrew Hill, Chief Technology Officer at CiTech. “We are extremely pleased with how the Nexus 16 performed under these extreme conditions and proud of our incredible engineers who made this level of resilience possible.”
Hill added, “The Nexus 16 at Atlas Iron is the first unit produced and sold, having been delivered to the site in April 2024, with the customer-issued Completion Certificate received by CiTech on September 9, 2024. It has not missed a beat and has performed perfectly.”
The successful performance of the Nexus 16 during Cyclone Zelia reinforces CiTech’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge, field-proven solutions designed for the harshest environments across:
-
Mining and resources
-
Defence
-
Emergency services
-
Border security and surveillance

About Critical Infrastructure Technologies Ltd.
Listed on the CSE with operations in Perth, Western Australia, CiTech is creating autonomous, high capacity, rapidly deployable technology that delivers essential services to where they are needed most. CiTech is targeting the mining, emergency services and defence sectors in relation to its first product release, the Nexus 16, which aims to provide critical mobile telecommunications for such sectors. Using patented technologies, CiTech’s self-deploying platform (SDP) provides a solution for two of the greatest limitations of current rapidly deployable communication solutions, strength of the tower and ability to rapidly self-deploy and operate, in numerous situations. The SDP is designed to support radio equipment including LTE (Long Term Evolution) and several other technology payloads, such as surveillance and anti-drone systems. CiTech has completed the research and development phase and is currently commercialising the first of many products that will be released. To learn more about the Company, visit www.citech.com.au.
