ReadersMagnet exhibited Mackenzy Samedi's poetry book “A Beautiful Life Well Lived” at the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference and Exhibition on June 23–28, 2022, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington DC, USA.
“A Beautiful Life Well Lived” contains thirty beautiful verses, which Mackenzy describes as “proclamation poems.” Proclamation poems refer to poems that affirm the poet's beliefs. Samedi, who writes under the pen name Mackenzy The Poet, shares easy-to-read poems composed of different themes that reflect his personal experiences and perspective as a Haitian American. Despite these thematic variations, the book has a touch of spiritual connotations.
Contrary to his two previously published works, the verses in his third book varied in length and evoked a more speckled emotional response. The book also mirrors the author's growth regarding his use of mixed personas. Readers will be delighted to read the humor in Samedi's third book. In numerous accounts, Mackenzy has credited his nationality as one of his inspirations in writing. His poems are accessible and relatable to his readers' psyche.
Mackenzy uses his words to illustrate the notion that each man's journey is unique and valid. His book is perfect for those who seek encouragement, hope, and beauty in an otherwise banal world. With all its drama and tribulations, Mackenzy Samedi wants to tell his readers that all lives are beautiful and worth living. The book ultimately aims to support its readers to appreciate their life's journey. Reviewers describe Mackenzy's work as lyrical and passionate.

Author
Mackenzy Samedi started writing poetry at the age of 15 in the auditorium of Haitian Bethany Baptist Church. It was for an event organized by the youth group in that specific church. The author received a lot of positive feedback after the poem was recited for the audience and the event was over. It inspired Samedi to continue writing and reciting poetry as the years went by. This time it was for a different variety of events. Much of his poetry speaks about different topics on the journey of life. They are mostly about God. The poems are written in English and Haitian Creole. Some of the author's most famous poems are “Why Am I Angry At The Lord?” “Problems” “Sin Gives A Bad Smell” “Quit Wasting Your Life” “Home Will Always Be Home” “Who Is Your Coach?” “Without Jesus Christ” “God, Can You Hear Me?” “God Rescue Me” and “Blessings over Here” which you can also read in his other books The Legacy of My Poems: The Psalms of A King and My Psalms. Samedi goes by the pseudonym Mackenzy The Poet.
