Fluidigm Selected By MIT’S Technology Review Magazine as One of the Top 50 Most Innovative Companies in the World

Fluidigm Corporation has been selected by MIT’s Technology Review magazine as one of the top 50 most innovative companies in the world. Technology Review just announced the 2010 TR50, its first annual list of the 50 most innovative companies in the world.

The list spans companies representing energy, computing, the Web, biomedicine, and materials industries, with each company evaluated on its business model, strategies for deploying and scaling up its technologies, and the likelihood of success. According to Technology Review, each company in the 2010 TR50 has excelled not only at inventing technology but also at using it to transform how the world lives and works.

“In choosing the TR50, we picked companies with this year’s most important inventions and breakthroughs. But we also selected companies that are successfully growing businesses and markets around innovative new products,” said Jason Pontin, editor in chief and publisher of Technology Review. “The TR50 list is our selection of companies that show the most impressive innovation in commercializing new technologies.”

“We at Fluidigm are thrilled and proud to be named to Technology Review’s first TR50. To have our efforts recognized by one of the top technology journals on the globe is both humbling and inspiring,” said Gajus Worthington, president and CEO of Fluidigm. “We believe Fluidigm has a disruptive technology that is revolutionizing life science research. From single-cell, stem cell and cancer cell exploration, to management and quality control of our food supply, to unleashing the power of next-generation sequencing, Fluidigm’s integrated fluidic circuit technology brings improvements to biology in the same ways that the electronic integrated circuit advanced computing and communications,” Worthington concluded.

Polin added that the companies selected “…all demonstrate the power and potential of innovative thinking for a better tomorrow.”
