F-35 costs soar, but military still backs jet

Lockheed Martin Corp.'s F-35 Joint Strike Fighter has almost doubled in price since the Pentagon designated the aircraft as its next-generation jet fighter nearly a decade ago. The price tag now tops $382 billion, with the first deployment of the jets still some five years away.
