What: | Dallas Water Utilities’ (DWU) staff members and Ameresco management will provide a tour of the City’s new 4.3 MW biogas capture and refining facility, which generates electricity and thermal load to power DWU’s facilities. The tour will include a look at the Digester Complex to show how methane is generated, followed by the Cogeneration Facility to demonstrate how methane is converted into electricity. | |
| The energy recovery facility is expected to offset approximately 60 percent of the electricity that the DWU currently pulls from the grid. This is expected to save the City approximately $1.5 million dollars annually. Ameresco was chosen by Dallas to design, build and operate the plant, which is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 19,150 metric tons annually. | ||
