Fluor Joint Venture Awarded Expansion Contract in Australia

Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) announced today that the Fluor SKM Iron Ore Joint Venture (FAST) was awarded a new contract from BHP Billiton Iron Ore (LSE: BLT) for additional work as part of the company’s expansion program in Western Australia. The newly awarded scope of work will focus on the Port Hedland Inner Harbour. Fluor booked approximately $2.7 billion for the project in the company’s second quarter of 2011.

FAST is a joint venture between Fluor Australia Pty Ltd. and Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM). Fluor is the majority partner in FAST. Fluor and SKM have provided engineering, procurement, construction management and commissioning services to BHP Billiton Iron Ore since 2001. The FAST office in Perth, Australia, will continue to lead this project.
