Markets lower as crude oil falls

Falling crude oil prices weighed the markets down during the midday with the Dow dropping 61 points to 17,802. Nasdaq slipped 5 points to 5,122.

On the upside

Horizon Pharma (Nasdaq: HZNP) reported higher third quarter earnings that surpassed analyst expectations by a wide margin and lifted its full year forecast.

TrueCar (Nasdaq: TRUE) narrowed losses more than expected for the third quarter as revenue rose.

Third quarter earnings for Stamps.com (Nasdaq: STMP) beat expectations by a wide margin as revenue climbed.

On the downside

TCP International Holdings (NYSE: TCPI) delayed the release of its third quarter financial results due to an Audit Committee investigation.

Titan International (NYSE: TWI) widened losses more than expected for the third quarter as revenue dropped.

XOMA (Nasdaq: XOMA) reported a greater than expected loss for the third quarter.

In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of more than 5 to 2 on the NYSE and by nearly 10 to 9 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 dropped 12 points to 2,087. Bitcoin added $1 to $388.
