A Wireless Appoints New Chief Executive Officer

A Wireless, a premium retailer for Verizon Wireless and operating more than 1,140 Verizon-branded retail stores in 46 states, appointed George Sherman as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mr. Sherman brings with him over 26 years of retail experience where he has transformed businesses, drove operational excellence, and significantly increased shareholder value.

Most recently, Sherman was President and also served as Interim Chief Executive Officer for Advance Auto Parts (NYSE: AAP), a specialty retailer of automotive aftermarket parts and related accessories with $9.73 billion in revenue. His tenure at Advance Auto Parts was defined by large scale growth in commercial sales, the transition to a field-centric organizational structure, and the acquisition and integration of General Parts International, which vaulted Advance into an industry leading volume position.

Previously, Sherman was the Senior Vice President, Global Services and President, Best Buy Services for Best Buy (NYSE: BBY), from 2009 until 2013. Prior to joining Best Buy, Sherman spent four years at the Home Depot, where he served as Senior Vice President of Operations and President of Home Depot Home Services, leading the company’s installation services business. Sherman began his career with Target (NYSE: TGT)/Mervyn’s, where he served as Senior Vice President, Store Operations for the Mervyn's department stores and as Regional Vice President for Target in both Dallas and Chicago. Previously, Sherman served as an officer in the United States Air Force for seven years.

Sherman is deeply involved with Building Homes for Heroes, a national non-profit building mortgage-free homes for disabled veterans, customized to their unique needs. He also previously served on the boards of KaBoom!, —a non-profit building safe play spaces for children across America—Literacy Instruction for Texas, and the Thomas Rice Leadership Center at Virginia Institute of Technology.

Sherman earned his M.S. in Management from Central Michigan University and his B.A. in Business from Saint Michael College.
