Target Donates $500,000 to Texas Disaster Relief Organizations Following Hurricane Harvey Destruction

Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) announced today a donation of $500,000 to aid in recovery efforts for communities affected by Hurricane Harvey. This donation will be distributed to local and national disaster relief organizations, including the Red Cross, the Salvation Army and Team Rubicon, an organization that unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to quickly deploy emergency response teams.

“As a Houston-area resident, I’m so proud to see Target’s commitment to our teams and communities come to life. Through these organizations, we’ll provide products, financial assistance and volunteers across the Gulf Coast,” said John Sheehan, group vice president, Target. “Our first priority is supporting our team, getting our stores back up and running and working with these organizations to help the community recover.”

Over the weekend, Target closed more than 30 stores for the safety of its team and guests and will be reopening stores as quickly as possible this week. Additionally, Target’s distribution and supply chain teams worked quickly to replenish impacted stores. Before the storm, Target provided extra products to stores, including batteries, flashlights, cleaning supplies and non-perishable food. Local road flooding and closures are impacting the company’s ability to make some deliveries and in those cases, Target is holding products at its distribution facilities so it can quickly push them out to stores when roads clear.
