Peter Thiel-backed Palo Alto startup claims self-driving sensor breakthrough

Luminar Technologies unveiled new laser guidance sensors Thursday and announced it bought a Colorado engineering firm and expanded its production facility in Florida as it races to compete with Alphabet's Waymo and Velodyne Lidar.
