Calgary, Sep 17, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Construction staffing, back office and payroll company Matrix Labour Leasing ("Matrix") is thrilled to announce its new joint venture partnership with the Gitga'at Development Corp . The partnership will provide a Nation-owned trades labour solution to the projected worker shortages in Prince Rupert, Terrace, and Kitimat regions as the areas continue to see unprecedented developmental growth.

"On behalf of the Gitga'at Nation and its people, the Gitga'at Development Corporation is pleased and proud to be working with the Matrix team in helping to place good people into meaningful and well-paying jobs and careers," says Gitga'at Development Corp. CEO Paul Paterson. "Matrix's important contribution to the prosperity of the Indigenous people of the Northcoast and the local contractors in the region is both acknowledged and appreciated."

The partnership will see the Gitga'at First Nation maintain majority ownership over the new business entity, which will be officially known as Gitga'at Matrix Workforce Services Ltd. ("GMWS"). In addition to providing Indegenous labour solutions to the upcoming projects in Prince Rupert, Terrace, and Kitimat, Matrix will utilize its database of over 30,000 trades workers from BC and beyond to ensure those projects remain on budget and on time.

"Matrix is very excited about this new partnership. We want to help mentor and employ as many First Nations people as we can," says Matrix Labour Leasing CEO Shannon Warren. "To us, this is about purpose, job creation and building long-term relationships for mutual benefit.  We want to help GMWS leave a legacy for local people to prosper from."

GMWS will help supply the trade labour, heavy equipment operators, pipeline workers, and general labourers for the projects taking place in Prince Rupert, Terrace, and Kitimat. With over $100 billion worth of investment expected in the area over the next 10 to 16 years in the form of LNG plants, pipelines, infrastructure, hotels, and homes, GMWS will be able to provide unlimited funding to meet labour demands. It will also offer the local First Nations community job opportunities that provide stability and growth through initiatives like apprenticeship, sponsorships and community development.
