Announcing the Armory Agent for Kubernetes: Kubernetes Deployments at Enterprise Scale

SAN MATEO, Calif. - October 20, 2020 - (Newswire.com)

Armory, the enterprise software company commercializing Spinnaker, the leading open source continuous delivery platform, today announced the launch of the Armory Agent for Kubernetes. The Armory Agent enables Spinnaker to handle large-scale deployments to thousands of Kubernetes clusters with ease.

“As our enterprise customers continue to break down their monoliths into microservices and accelerate their Kubernetes adoption, they need a way to make deploying to thousands of Kubernetes clusters as easy as deploying to 10. The Armory Agent for Kubernetes provides this capability as an easy-to-use and highly performant plug-in for Spinnaker,” says Alex Bello, VP of Product at Armory.

The Armory Agent Brings Large-Scale Kubernetes Deployments to Spinnaker

The Armory Agent for Kubernetes enables Spinnaker to handle large-scale Kubernetes deployments with ease. It acts as a highly performant and efficient Kubernetes controller, distributing and optimizing caching so that users can deploy to thousands of clusters without experiencing latency issues. For operators, the Agent simplifies at-scale Kubernetes account management, empowering individual teams and enabling them to add new accounts on the fly without restarting Spinnaker.

The Agent also brings additional security to Kubernetes deployments through its decentralized Kubernetes service account management model. This model eliminates a centralized security target, allows users to keep their Kubernetes API servers private from Spinnaker, and enables dev teams to manage permissions for their specific clusters.

“Our customers are extremely excited about the Armory Agent,” says Akshay Dayal, Product Manager at Armory. “For those already deploying at scale to Kubernetes, the performance improvements and ease of use around account management are key features for enterprise-level continuous delivery to Kubernetes. Customers who are largely deploying to VMs today can grow into Kubernetes maturity with Spinnaker over time, leveraging its native multi-target deployment capabilities.”

The Armory Agent is another example of Spinnaker’s rapidly growing plug-in ecosystem. More information on why it built the Armory Agent for Kubernetes and how it works can be found on Armory’s blog here.

The Armory Agent is available today as an Early Release feature. For anyone interested in a demonstration of the Armory Agent, there will be a live demo available to watch on Nov. 4 during the Spinnaker Summit & Gardening Days.
