Milpitas, California Mar 30, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - Bay Area Tutoring Association Helps Underserved San Francisco Bay Area Students Despite COVID-19 Pandemic

Milpitas, CA: Online tutoring services from Bay Area Tutoring Association (BATA) have assisted the San Francisco Bay Area's most vulnerable students from ages 6-18 to be more successful in their school curriculum during COVID-19 distance learning. Tutoring operations successfully pivoted from in-person to provide new LCAP solutions using online platforms and cultural connections during the onset of California's lockdowns in an effort to equitably serve students no matter the external circumstance.

With many students disengaged from school, suffering from poor mental health, and with economic disparities highlighted as a result of the recession and many families having to take on the burden of teaching, tutors play a vital role now more than ever in college and career readiness. BATA is proud to lead the charge in shaping the lives of our children to ensure they can achieve their dreams. In the process, BATA's volunteer base has expanded by over 484% in the past 10 months and continues to accelerate rapidly. Over 150 volunteer tutors that span a multitude of educational, professional, and diverse backgrounds commit their time and energy to tutor underserved Bay Area students throughout the region every day of the week, including weekends. Partnering with local school districts and foundations, non-profit organizations and securing funding from Hewlett Packard Inc., Amazon, KLA-Tencor, Cisco, BATA has arranged teams of compassionate, dedicated, and accomplished tutors that hail from around the world, all joined together by their commitment to BATA's mission of educational equity for all.

Founding Director Chris Norwood states, "Due to COVID-19, we've had to pivot quickly, streamline our volunteer recruitment process to create a diversity-filled, international network of talented and committed volunteers who can better connect with the underserved public school children of the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley. We are now able to secure more donations to education and offer more tutoring support scholarships than ever for low-income families."
