An eco-friendly boutique is pledging 1% of their annual profits to an environmental foundation with the aim of supporting an ecosystem in need.

Wunderplay, an eco-friendly boutique toy shop in Yorkshire, is pleased to announce they are lending financial support to a cause close to their heart. The company is pledging to donate 1% of its annual profits to the Virunga National Park Foundation.
The Virunga National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is located in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is one of the world’s biologically diverse areas in need of protection. The Park is currently engaged in the “Virunga Alliance” programme, designed to use the wealth created by the parks to build opportunities and jobs for the local community.
The owners of Wunderplay recognised the Park needed more support after researching the conflict that has been causing devastation in the area for more than twenty years. Rangers risk their lives to protect the animals in the park including the last of the world’s mountain gorillas. More than 200 rangers have been killed helping these animals survive.
A founder of Wunderplay grew up in the Congo and fell in love with its natural beauty. As such, they are committed to using their business to support and preserve national parks as well as help aid animal welfare. The company is also keen to lend their support to goals such as reducing poverty in the region and establishing peace. The business recognises that many people in the area are below the ‘extreme poverty threshold.’
As well as donating to the cause, Wunderplay has also been involved in other campaigns including the adoption of a wild Mountain Gorilla, Nedeze, whose mother was brutally murdered with four other adult gorillas. The company is delighted to be able to continue to develop support like this to the region and do their part to help this area of the world.
