Former NATP Board of Directors' President named for going above and beyond

APPLETON, Wis. - July 19, 2021 - PRLog -- The National Association of Tax Professionals each year recognizes a tax professional, nominated by the rest of the membership, as its Tax Professional of the Year. This year's winner is a practicing tax pro of 45 years and former NATP Board of Directors' President: Gerard F. Cannito, CPA, CFP®.

Cannito, who currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, has been preparing taxes for more than 45 years. He has scaled back his business, but still prepares returns for small- to medium-sized businesses and represents clients in IRS issues. Cannito earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Monmouth University.

"I didn't even know I was nominated until I got the email," Cannito said. "I don't know who nominated me but it's just an honor to be chosen. There are so many wonderful tax professionals out there and to be singled out, well it's just a true honor."

During his professional career, Cannito served on the North Carolina NATP state board of directors for six years and served the NATP National Board of Directors for nine.

"Jerry is a true leader in the tax world and his community," said Jennifer Van Elzen, NATP director of member services and analytics. "It's been an honor and a pleasure to have worked with Jerry and there's no one more deserving of this award."
