In the past year, onsemi was named as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for the sixth year in a row, included on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (North America) for a third year, and included on Barron’s Most Sustainable Companies for a fourth year. The company has invested in new segments and placed significant emphasis on reviewing how the beliefs, assumptions, values and behaviors of onsemi align with the company’s goals of future growth and a thriving work environment for employees.

In addition to being a full member of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), the company is also a signatory of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact and submitted its second Communication on Progress (COP) in July 2021. The COP outlines the company’s alignment with the UN Global Compact’s ten principles and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Together, the company’s Global Giving Program and the ON Semiconductor Foundation invested more than $1.8 million in their communities. In addition, both organizations provided over $312,000 in COVID-19 relief through cash and in-kind donations, and almost $92,000 in disaster relief funds.

Highlights from the onsemi 2020 CSR report include:

  • Reclaim and recycle: In 2020, approximately 634,000 kilograms of scrap materials and 870 kilograms of precious metals from the company’s worldwide manufacturing facilities were processed, sorted and sold for reuse. The reclamation of these materials recouped more than $23 million.
  • Sustainability savings: With an in-house team dedicated to sustainability excellence, onsemi has achieved marked successes within the company’s many conservation programs, all of which are vital to the success of its semiconductor device manufacturing business. In 2020, the company saved more than $10.8 million through sustainability projects.
  • Diversity and inclusion: onsemi was named to the 2021 Bloomberg Gender Equality Index for a second year in a row in recognition of its transparent disclosure practices and overall performance across the framework’s five pillars of female leadership and talent pipeline, equal pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, sexual harassment policies and pro-women brand.
  • Community investments: The ON Semiconductor Foundation awarded more than $1.28 million in grants to 100 causes globally in 2020. Since 2016, the company has funded more than $6.5 million in grants, employee matching and in-kind donations, as well as sponsorships and dollars-for-doers for employee volunteerism.

“Our global teams have risen to the new challenges over the past year. The diverse experience, knowledge and, backgrounds that our employees bring to the table enable us to continually improve how we operate and make a difference in the world,” said Hassane El-Khoury, president and CEO of onsemi. “All of our awards demonstrate that our core values of respect, integrity and initiative are not just words but everyday commitments that we live by at onsemi.”
