Simmons and Fletcher, P.C. steps up efforts to help individuals affected by car accidents amid the raging pandemic

As more research comes out suggesting the COVID-19 pandemic’s paradoxical impact on road safety, highlighting the increase in crash rates, Simmons and Fletcher, P.C. ramps up efforts to help individuals affected by car accidents put their lives back together.

While images of empty roads became a trope of the COVID-19 pandemic, emerging research suggests that the global health crisis has brought a paradoxical impact on road safety.

The World Health Organization states that while lesser road accidents were recorded as people were hunkered down at home, evidence from countries suggests the accidents which happened were described as “more deadly” as cars travel faster.

The figures come significantly from high-income countries, including the United States, according to WHO.

In separate research done by the Eastern Connecticut State University, researchers found that COVID-19 stay-at-home order last year impacted motor vehicle crash rates.

The study found that single-car crash rates overall and single-car crash rates involving a fatality increased significantly in the initial period of the stay-at-home order in March 2020.

“Not all car accidents are the same. They vary depending upon the vehicle you are operating, the vehicle the other driver is operating, the insurance coverage available, or the driver’s mental state and/or degree of intoxication,” says Paul H. Cannon, A Shareholder at Simmons and Fletcher, P.C.

The company, composed of personal injury lawyers and car accident attorneys, has led the charge in helping those affected by car accidents throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Personal injury attorneys represent people who have been injured. They can help individuals put their lives back together when they have been seriously injured due to someone else’s negligent conduct.

“Your lawyer’s role is to prepare and submit all documentation required in a timely fashion so that your claim cannot be denied on a technicality,” explains Paul. “The lawyer can navigate the claims process and negotiate on your behalf. In some cases, this may necessitate filing a lawsuit, mediating the case, and/or taking the case to trial.”

Paul says having a car accident lawyer could be the difference between winning and losing a case.

“Car accident lawyers help make your road to recovery easier by helping you get the medical care you need, cutting through the red tape and filling all available insurance claims, pursuing compensation for all your losses, and locating the responsible parties,” explains Paul.

Car accident attorneys also lead the way in investigating the causes of the wreck, proving liability, drafting a demand letter, negotiating a settlement, negotiating liens, and litigating the case.

Paul laments that many individuals wait to talk to a car accident lawyer until after they have attempted to handle the case on their own with a friendly insurance adjuster who promised they would take full responsibility.

“These same adjusters will often return with an offer that doesn’t even start to cover your out-of-pocket expenses and may halt returning your emails and calls when you do not sign your rights away,” says Paul.

Simmons and Fletcher, P.C. work on a contingency fee and way pay all the litigation expenses upfront. This means that clients pay nothing unless their lawyers make a recovery in their case.
