COVID Pandemic Causing Some Legal Cases Be Delayed By Up To 24 Months Which Could Be Too Late For Some Victims Closed Courtrooms and Cases at a Standstill. Richard T. Meehan Jr, explains how law firms are adapting during a time of social distancing.

Case Engine, an established leader in the legal digital marketing industry, has discovered that some cases in the legal justice system have been delayed by up to twenty-four months. The company has been investigating this situation and conducting interviews with many attorneys across the country about the effects of the COVID pandemic on their law practices.

Recently they interviewed Richard T. Meehan Jr, a lawyer whose firm deals with personal injury cases, family law, and dental malpractice. Some of his cases have been rescheduled to 2022, while others have been moved to 2023. Although this might be viewed by many as inconvenient, it could potentially be catastrophic depending on the circumstances of the case.

Richard said, “One specific example of a case we are dealing with which has been delayed involves a woman who had a misdiagnosis of oral cancer. Unfortunately, her life expectancy is in question, but due to COVID, that case may not get to trial for two years, which is concerning to her. In the worst-case scenario, she may not be as physically able or even still alive at that point in time. It is situations such as this case that highlights the dramatic, but often unseen circumstances that COVID has caused.”

COVID-19 has caused significant issues across the world and in many industries, but there are lots of hidden issues which are destined to become apparent as time moves forward, and the full extent of the issues caused becomes apparent.
