How Iglesia Ni Cristo Members Are Working To Serve First Nations Communities

Giving Back: A Core Value For Iglesia Ni Cristo Members

TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / October 13, 2021 / Iglesia Ni Cristo members are dedicated to giving back, and they recently worked to provide aid and relief to members of First Nations communities in Canada. Sadly, 25% of indigenous adults and 40% of indigenous children in Canada live in poverty and may depend on donations from charitable organizations to keep their families afloat. The charitable operation ran through Iglesia Ni Cristo's ecclesiastical district in Ottawa, and packages were given to First Nations families in Kingston, Ontario on August 27, 2021.

Iglesia Ni Cristo In Canada

Iglesia Ni Cristo was founded in the Philippines in 1914 by Felix Y. Manalo. In 1968, the Church's first Hawaiian service took place, and expansion into the rest of the western world quickly followed.

Iglesia Ni Cristo began providing services in Canada in 1973. Today, Iglesia Ni Cristo members enjoy attending church in more than 7,000 congregations around the world.

First Nations Communities And Iglesia Ni Cristo

During the presentation of the relief packages, district supervising minister Brother Jose P. Razon II stated, "This is the great initiative of our beloved Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo. As we greet and celebrate his 12th year of dynamic leadership inside the Church, we will continue to fulfill his initiative of helping our fellowmen, not only because we truly believe that this is in fulfillment of God's teaching, to do good to those who need it."

The relief event was held in partnership with True North Aid. First Nations families received hygienic products, jackets, boots, and bedding, as well as canned and packaged foods.

Brother Gibrl Legaspi, an Iglesia Ni Cristo minister of the gospel, said that the Church chose to bring their donations to Kingston because it would allow them to partner with True North Aid. After receiving the donations from Iglesia Ni Cristo, True North Aid will distribute them to First Nations families in need across the country.

A History Of Service In Canada

Iglesia Ni Cristo has a history of providing service to families and communities in need around the world. Recently, the Church donated both money and supplies to residents of Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. The Church also provided 700 care packages and $2,000 to the Métis community, an indigenous Canadian group. Iglesia Ni Cristo's Canadian congregations are proud to provide aid to their fellow Canadians in need.
