Ember Hughes Wins Ambient Edge Students Affected By Cancer Scholarship

The $1,000 award will go toward Hughes' education at Grand Canyon University.

LAS VEGAS, NV, October 14, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A cancer diagnosis will change your life in every way. For Ember Hughes, that change came at the young age of only 15. Hughes wrote a powerful essay about her cancer diagnosis, winning the Ambient Edge Students Affected By Cancer Scholarship for $1,000.

An avid athlete, Hughes worked as a volunteer student trainer for the football team. Then, on September 13, 2018, she experienced excruciating pain in her abdomen that caused her to leave practice early. Upon visiting the hospital, she learned that she had chronic myeloid leukemia.

"I can't put this experience into words that justify everything I experienced during that time," she wrote. With help from her parents, she was able to calm down and process the diagnosis and ongoing recovery. "Something that really helped me cope with all the emotions was thinking of my friends and family," Hughes said in an interview with Ambient Edge representatives.

Ember Hughes' experience with cancer and recovery has also caused her to reevaluate her future. Now, she plans to become a registered nurse before tackling a career as a nurse anaesthetist. As she writes in her essay, "Becoming a nurse will help me make an impact on someone else's life."

Ambient Edge is proud to award this $1,000 scholarship to Ember Hughes to help with her expenses at Grand Canyon University. Not only is Hughes' recovery from cancer a welcome source of hope, but her dedication to spending her life helping others in similar situations is incredibly admirable.

Ambient Edge is a five-star air conditioning, heating, and plumbing service in the Southwest, with locations in Nevada and Arizona. Due to its intimate relationship with air quality, the company has worked with chemicals and contaminants that have been known to cause cancer.
