St. Vincent Meals on Wheels Among Heroes of Hollywood 2021 Honored by Hollywood Chamber Community Foundation

Nation's Largest, Privately Funded Senior Nutrition Program presented with award at October 7, 2021 ceremony

LOS ANGELES, CA, October 15, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- St. Vincent Meals on Wheels (SVMOW) was among the Heroes of Hollywood highlighted by the Hollywood Chamber Community Foundation at their Awards and Virtual Fundraiser event on October 7, 2021, from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. The event was emceed by reality TV pioneer and multi-Emmy winner Nigel Lythgoe.

SVMOW Executive Director Veronica Dover, who has headed the organization since 2018 and steered the country's largest, privately funded senior nutrition program through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, accepted the award on behalf of SVMOW. Dover joined fellow 2021 honorees Louis Ambramson, elected, Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council; Developer Stanley Folb; Shannon Geaney, LAPD Police Detective III; and Kevin James, President, LA Board of Public Works.

Throughout the year, various non-profits in Hollywood are awarded grants from the Hollywood Chamber Community Foundation. 100% of the net proceeds from the Heroes of Hollywood event help to keep programs and services going for organizations such as the Hollywood School House, Assistance League of LA, Greenway Arts Alliance, Blind Children's Center, Salvation Army of Hollywood, Aviva Family Services, and many others. St. Vincent Meals on Wheels
Our mission is to prepare and deliver nutritious meals to homebound seniors and other vulnerable residents across Los Angeles, regardless of age, illness, disability, race, religion, or ability to pay.

We deliver over 100,000 meals a month to seniors who are at risk of hunger. There are over 250,000 seniors facing hunger insecurity in Los Angeles and many of them are isolated and homebound. For many seniors, St. Vincent Meals on Wheels is a lifeline.

The Hollywood Chamber Community Foundation
Founded in 1972 to provide financial assistance in the form of grants to non-profit organizations that serve the Hollywood Community. Our major fundraiser, the "Heroes of Hollywood Awards," honors community leaders, executives, business owners, and organizations for their dedication to Hollywood and improving the community for all.
