The 17th Annual La Femme International Film Festival Wraps, Announces Award Winners

LOS ANGELES, CA, October 18, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The La Femme International Film Festival held its hybrid 17th annual women-led film festival at the Regal Cinemas LA Live this past weekend.

Awards were presented in categories from Short films to documentaries to commercials, to features and music videos. Winners from this year's festival included:

Best Animated Short - "Annah la Javanaise" Fatimah Tobing Rony featuring Rosana Nur Cikita, Karen Strassman and Oom Umiyati.
Best Webisode - "Love in 2020" Eirinn Disbrow starring Anna Jaller, Jeff Pierre, and James Tang.
Best Music Video - "Fate" Alexis C. Jenkins starring Lila Jai and Simon Covington.
Best Commercial - "The Era of Bosie" by Angie SU.
Best Screenplay - "The Last Book" by Paula Rhodes
Best TV Pilot Script + "Non-Official Cover" by Jodi Shelton and Hudson Shelton narrated by Val Cole. Best Short "YuanYuan" Shiyue Xu featuring Tingxuan Jiang, Haoyang He, Yanhua Zhang, Chun Cheng and Zheyan liu.
Best Documentary - "Anatomy of Wings" Nikiea Redmond, Kirsten D'Andrea Hollander featuring the mentees, mentors, and the cinematographers of the Finding Our Wings After School Program.
Best Special Focus Documentary - "Ghosts on the Horizon" Madeline McEwen.
Best Foreign Film - "La Machetera" Yanet Pavon Bernal starring Esnedy Milan Herrera and Liusmila Dìas Rio.
Best Feature Writer - "Beneath the Banyan Tree" Nani Li Yang starring Ah-Leh Gua, Kathy and Wu.
Best Feature - "The Clearing" by Stephanie Trainer starring Amna Geko and Eric Swader.
Best Feature Director - "AMERICANISH" by Iman Zawahry starring Aizzah Fatima, Salena Qureshi, Shenaz Treasurey, Mohammed Amer, Godfrey, George Wendt, Kapil Talwalkar, and David Rasche.
Best Animated Feature - "The Breath of Life" starring Anna Gerasimova, Arthur Herring, Adam Behr, Noah Logan, Dimitry Rozental, Alexandra Green, Zoe Zhao, and Josh Merrell.

American actress, producer, and writer America Ferrera received the Lupe Ontiveros Image Award.

Leslie LaPage is a woman of color and the first Latina to run, operate and launch a "Woman supportive" festival in Los Angeles has been at the forefront of women making cinema for over 17 years. Launching the careers, discovering, and premiering 100's of films by women creators who have gone on to achieve worldwide critical acclaim, Leslie LaPage is known as the foremost curator of female commercial content.
