American Portfolios Serves as Presenting Partner for the World T.E.A.M. 2021 Face of America – Gettysburg Bike Ride

--News Direct--

The New York-based, privately held independent broker/dealer proudly supports this national non-profit organization, bringing adaptive and able-bodied athletes together annually by empowering, enabling and engaging individuals through its inclusive athletic program.

American Portfolios Financial Services, Inc. (AP), a privately held, independent broker/dealer that provides services and support to financial advisors throughout the country, recently served as Presenting Partner for the World T.E.A.M. (WT) Face of America - Gettysburg (FOA) bike ride, which took place on October 8-10, 2021. This year marked AP’s 15th FOA bike ride from Washington, D.C., to the battlefields of Gettysburg, Pa. The firm also ranked as one of the event’s top fundraisers, raking in a total of $54,928 (as of publication) in charitable funds for the non-profit organization that brings adaptive and able-bodied athletes together by empowering, enabling and engaging individuals through inclusive athletic programs.

AP CEO and WT Vice Chairman Lon T. Dolber, in his long-standing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), has been involved in WT events since 2007; his participation has evolved over time into firm-wide support for the non-profit organization. Dolber expresses his gratitude for being able to contribute to worthy causes such as the WT FOA especially since Team American Portfolios was unable to participate in-person last year due to the COVID-19 lockdown: “It was great to be back as Presenting Partner for this year’s FOA. I have seen firsthand how transformative and inspiring these events are for participants—riders and volunteers combined. Pulling together as one team to meet a single goal—to empower people so they may achieve what may seem impossible—is a feeling words cannot describe. As AP’s mission is to seek pathways—financially or otherwise—for people in pursuit of their American dreams, I believe we are truly aligned with WT’s mission to create life-changing and awe-inspiring experiences for adaptive athletes.”

WT CEO and President Jon Brideau adds, “In many ways, the 2021 FOA was one of the most memorable and important programs in our organization’s nearly 30-year history. Our athletes, volunteers and partners all dearly missed this event over the last two years due to the challenges of the pandemic. Through team effort and deep focus on our core mission, we were able to overcome those hardships and provide an amazing inclusive weekend of riding and celebration for our veterans and active duty adaptive and able-bodied athletes. We are incredibly grateful to all those involved who made this event possible.”

Ranking No. 5 in the overall Top Fundraisers category was AP-affiliated financial advisor George Elkin (Bohemia, N.Y.), who raised $9,009 (as of publication). Top Fundraisers for Team American Portfolios also included: AP-affiliated financial advisor James P. McCauley, Jr. (Income & Asset Advisory, Inc.; Armonk, N.Y.), who raised $4,775 (as of publication); and AP-affiliated financial advisor and Team American Portfolios Captain David Rey (David Rey Financial Group; Holbrook, N.Y.), who raised $2,400 (as of publication). “Through the awesome people on our team, we have consistently been one of the top fundraisers for the FOA ride year after year,” states Rey. “We commit so much of our time leading up to the ride each year. Each year, when it’s over, I look at the lives we’ve touched, the friends we’ve made and the fun we’ve had—knowing what we had accomplished for WT’s mission to help others. It’s a great feeling. That’s what brings me back every year.”

The 28 members of Team American Portfolios were among 300-plus riders, including active and retired military personnel, wounded warriors and adaptive athletes. The ride also included noteworthy participants: 1) Retired U.S. Army Col. Gregory D. Gadson, who holds the distinction of being the official WT ambassador and honorary chair (Gadson, a motivational speaker and long-time supporter of WT’s mission, has appeared at AP’s annual national conference, Connections, as a keynote speaker); and 2) Team Tyler Hamilton, named in honor of retired professional road bicycle racer Tyler Hamilton, which includes riders from the Fort Bragg Warrior Transition Unit, whose mission is to facilitate community building, resiliency and healing.

On Saturday, Oct. 9, FOA riders began part one of their two-day, 115-mile trek from the nation’s capital, traveling north through Washington D.C. past the Pentagon and Fort Meyer through Arlington National Cemetery and the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park along the Potomac River, finishing the first half of their journey in Frederick, Maryland. The next morning, Sunday, Oct. 10, the riders pedaled through northwestern Maryland and southern Pennsylvania, traversing the final miles through the historic Civil War battlefield at Gettysburg, Pa. FOA athletes were welcomed at the ride’s conclusion with the festive Brown’s Ranch Barn Party and Roast, featuring live music, food and a well-deserved celebration for their hard work and dedication.
