This year marks the 10th anniversary of PG Sports and founder, Paul Guarino, is teaming up with another local business — and hometown favorite — for a charity fundraiser.
PG Sports grew from a local sports apparel brand out of Union Avenue in West Haven, CT to an established sports marketing company that now represents over 20 professional athletes across the WNBA, NFL, NHL, UFC, and boxing in their off-field endeavors.
“I wanted to do a different type of shirt collaboration for our company’s 10 year anniversary. I thought it would be a great opportunity for Zuppardi’s Appiza and PG Sports,” Guarino said.
After all, PG Sports was founded just three blocks away from the long established family restaurant that is heralded as one of the best in the United States.
“I connected with Jim Ormrod Jr. from Zuppardi’s Apizza and we made it happen. It’s special to me to collaborate with a historic West Haven brand especially since I grew up on Union Ave,” Guarino said.
“When approached by Paul Guarino—a homebred Westie, Union Avenue resident, and Zuppardi’s loyalist — about collaborating on a t-shirt to raise money for the Community Defined Foundation to fight food insecurity for families across the state, we were in!” – Jim Ormrod Jr.
In another Connecticut connection, the proceeds from the shirt will be going to WNBA star and UConn alum Crystal Dangerfield’s Community Defined Foundation to fight food insecurity.
“I’m grateful for everyone that participates, and thankful for the PG Sports and Zuppardi’s collab. It was a great idea and a great way to kick start the nonprofit.” – Crystal Dangerfield
