Boston Children’s Hospital Partners with Extra Life to Host “Game Day” on November 6th

--News Direct--

Boston Children’s Hospital and Extra Life are working together to host Game Day, a virtual gaming event that will bring together families and gamers alike for a day of fun and fundraising. On Saturday, November 6, participants are encouraged to gather family, friends and neighbors to play their favorite online video or board games for the purpose of raising funds to support patient care and lifesaving research at Boston Children’s.

To participate, players will sign-up at bostonchildrens.org/extralife and choose Boston Children’s Hospital, play their games and fundraise to help kids at the hospital. People can also donate and follow along on Twitch. Money raised through the event will benefit many areas of Boston Children’s Hospital, through its Every Child Fund. This fund fuels promising research and critical family services not covered by insurance. All funds raised go directly to finding lifesaving answers for kids.

“The gaming community around Boston Children’s Hospital has been incredibly supportive over the years,” said Sharon Yon-Johansson, Boston Children’s Hospital Trust. “This year the need for care is growing. More children require mental and behavioral health services. More need to stay in-patient. And of course, we continue to care for kids with a range of complex illnesses other hospitals don’t have the expertise to treat. The need is great and Extra-Life is having a big impact.”

Extra Life unites thousands of gamers around the world in support of local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which include 170-member hospitals across the U.S. and Canada. Since its inception in 2008, Extra Life has raised $87 million for sick and injured kids.
