Latest Report Denotes Consistent Industry Growth and Provides Additional Data on Sex and Racial Disparity

PHOENIX - Dec. 9, 2021 - PRLog -- The Arizona Technology Council today released its Q3 2021 Arizona Technology Industry Impact Report, which spotlights the continued growth of the state's technology sector. The data reveals the number of jobs and wages rose within Arizona's technology industry throughout 2021 and technology companies continued moving headquarters to the state or opening new offices. The year-over-year rise in the number of jobs (2.64%), wages (2.96%) and Arizona-based technology companies (5.43%) show positive signs of growth in the state.

The report also provides a new breakdown of the men-to-women ratio in top technology occupations, shedding more light on sex disparity in the industry. The full report can be viewed here.

"Arizona's technology industry continues to lead the state and compete on a national level through growth and innovation," said Steven G. Zylstra, the Council's president and CEO. "We're proud of our leaders in the industry as well as members of the Legislature who have helped open doors to our collective success. We are also committed to continued expansion of our reporting on gender and racial disparity to push the conversation forward and promote action to open up more opportunities for women, the LGBTQ+ community and black, indigenous and people of color."

In the report's newest breakdown of occupational gender disparity, women are still poorly represented across top jobs in technology. For instance, women only make up 10.7% of audio and video technicians, 13.5% of broadcast technicians and 14.1% of computer hardware engineers. The gap is closing in occupations like natural science managers with women holding 45.3% of jobs in this field, computer systems analysts, 35.4%; and database administrators and architects, 35.4%.

Additional findings of the Q3 2021 report include:

  • Total technology industry wages – $23,793,840,273
