ORLANDO – January 27, 2022 – (Garibaldi) Bautista Reyes was born in Azua de Compostela, Dominican Republic in 1968. At an early age he felt through his veins the artistic spirit inside; forming a circus at the age of 10 in a “ramada” built by his father Juan Bautista Reyes (Sr.), a native of the same city of Azua de Compostela, Dominican Republic. His father built the “ramada” in order to sit under it every afternoon after he got home from work… Literally, he sat ther every afternoon, under that beautiful “ramada”.
Some children from the neighborhood and they went to a garbage dump to look for old cans to make aluminum sheets and fence around the “ramada” to later charge 5 cents per entry, to the circus, where he juggled, camedies and sang. At the age of 12 he moved the family to the capital, Santo Domingo, where he ventured into the world of fashion and began to make fashion designs and study theater, where we had a participation in a play in the fine arts and cults, and the play was so successful that he was invited to different parts of the world, including the United States, in New York, at the LAFAYETTE THEATER, on Broadway. There, he participated and I stayed permanently to live in New York where he prepared himself, deeper and more seriously in the studies of acting. He participated in different projects, such as, HUL ON THE HILS, PELICULA, comedy program, COMO LO VES, and then his brother Kalimete, Ranfis Leury Reyes.
Eventually, he formed a group called “Nine Eleven” (911), a group that in the year 1999 had a tremendous success in Puerto Rico. He left the group in 2011 because due to the twin towers attack… and that made the radios take out our musical off the Radio air. Garibaldi decided at that momen to take a break from music and venture into the cinema, with a film, HERMAPHRODITA THE MOVIES, with the filmmaker and director, Alber Xavier, also in his first film as a writer and direct actor, CAMINO BRAVO, the famous Dominican actor Juan Fernández also participated in his movie, El Gallo. He later decided to return to the music business, but now with a new face and a new horizon as a Christian and in the world of spiritual sacred music, where he Is now!
