The first Latino to merge 3D technology with tattooing

By: Get News

Darwin, known in Latin America for revolutionizing the industry with the use of 3D technology and providing tattoo lovers with an innovative experience, in which he scans the part of the body that the client wishes to tattoo, creates the previous design and obtains an idea of the final product.

He started in the world of tattooing at the age of 20, in the city of Valencia, Venezuela, where he began working with designs for a tattoo studio. During his time at the studio, he developed his artistic talents and felt an instant attraction to tattooing and how the skin can also be a canvas for designs. From there, the interest of becoming a professional of the trade was born.

After only a year of training, he undertook his first work experience as a tattoo artist; since then, invitations to conventions were not long in coming. In search of new horizons, he moved to the capital, Caracas, and was hired by one of the most important artists in Venezuela .By studying alongside the greats, he felt motivated to continue expanding until he reached internationalisation. He set his mind to it and succeeded, because taking on challenges is part of the passion that characterises him. Among the opportunities that came his way, a friend in Belgium extended him an invitation to work in a studio in Antwerp, an experience that proved to be a challenge to communicate due to the different languages of his colleagues, but it did not prevent him from receiving recognition and awards.

‌At the end of his engagement in Belgium, he returned to Caracas and joined Emilio Gonzalez’s studio, Mithos Tattoo, (2006-2009). Since then, Darwin’s artistic career began to gain even more strength outside the Venezuelan borders, in countries such as Brazil, Argentina and Colombia.

In 2015, he took the decision that marked a before and after: to emigrate to the United States and settle in New York. There, he was presented with a job offer at Last Rites Tattoo Theatre (2001-15-2020), to work alongside talented artists and chart a career in the American country. But the ambition went beyond just touring studios; the business idea so caught his attention. So, he took advantage of the knowledge acquired to found Inknation Studio, in Manhattan, together with the Peruvian, Zhimpa Moreno, with the aim of bringing together the best artists from each country and to promote Latin talent. Currently, it has tattoo artists from Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela, Peru, to name a few.

The Venezuelan’s goal is to make Inknation Studio one of the best spaces in New York. Nothing limits him. So he is working hard to achieve it in the short term and to continue to be an inspiration for those who dream of following in his footsteps.
