Bahati Collective Launches an Alternative Marketplace

By: Get News
The alternative furniture marketplace showcasing a curated collection of creators' ability and innovation is proud to announce the launch of its brand.

The Bahati Collective team is delighted to announce the launching of their brand, an online furniture marketplace. According to the brand founders, their mission is to supply furniture crafted by talented artisans with a focus on ethical business practices on a manufacture-on-demand basis.

At the brand's core is the belief that a fantastic piece of art or furniture is an investment. Each piece of furniture is handcrafted, personalized, patterned, hand-framed, and upholstered with the utmost care. They concentrate on midcentury, contemporary modern design that is timeless enough to withstand shifting interior trends, yielding a selection of unique and modern classics.

"Our reason for being is to connect artisans to shoppers with purpose. People want to know where their furniture comes from, and we feel Bahati Collective serves a niche in the market, focusing on working with artisans in underserved economic regions. In addition, so many big stores sell the same furniture, and as designers, it's liberating to see a marketplace showcasing diverse talent and creativity. Our furniture stands out, and our collection is for those seeking quality, luxury furniture options," says Sarah, Co-Founder of the company.

As Bahati works with small businesses and artisans, a high degree of customization is possible, from fabric and sizing changes to fully customized, one-of-a-kind pieces.

The brand is a cause-driven social enterprise that thoughtfully invests in strategies that reduce environmental impact and support economic empowerment, focusing on manufacturing in emerging economic regions, a refreshing alternative in a market flooded with cheap product mass manufactured in the far east.

Growing up in South Africa, and spending time at factories in China and seeing firsthand the overproduction of samples and toxic work culture pushed founder Sarah Janks to start Bahati Collective and do business differently. "Big-box retailers provide mass-produced furniture at low costs; however, these items come at a great human cost. Added to that, they lack style and are typically constructed of inferior materials, poor-density foam, and contain toxic chemicals. We've worked with our factories to ensure we're thoughtful about every step in the design and production process to optimize the product and how we do business. As we grow, we intend to explore domestic and overseas artisanal suppliers; we don't operate with borders in mind. Our metric is how much value we can add to suppliers and customers by connecting them while pushing the limits of our design aesthetic." Sarah adds.

The core brand values are quality, high design value, and the belief that you can build a business that benefits everyone involved, from artisan to customer.
