Bergstrom, Firefly Energy Agree to Test, Co-Market NITE(TM) Sleeper Cab Cooling System Powered by Oasis(TM) Group 31 Battery

Bergstrom Inc., the recognized leader of innovative climate solutions for the people who move our world and makers of the NITE no-idle thermal system (www.iownthenite.com) for truck sleeper cabs, and Firefly Energy Inc. (www.fireflyenergy.com), the leader in developing next generation Microcell foam batteries for commercial and military markets, have announced an agreement to test and co-market the NITE system alongside Firefly Energys Oasis BCI Group 31 truck battery. The agreement is designed to give drivers and fleets a cost-effective means to achieve all-night sleeper cab cooling with the engine shut off.

The NITE system combines a light weight, fully functional air conditioning (A/C) system and a compact air heating system, both designed to work independently of a trucks main engine. When used effectively, the NITE system virtually eliminates overnight truck idling. An available eight-pound air heating system keeps the sleeper compartment continuously warm all night, using just 0.03 to 0.06 gallons of diesel fuel per hour, compared to one to 1.5 gallons per hour wasted during normal idling time. The NITE system is available for purchase with the A/C system only or with a combination of the air conditioner and heater.

According to Terry Ziegler, Bergstroms vice president and general manager for Electrified Products who is involved with the tests, the Oasis battery to be introduced by Firefly Energy in 2008 is hoped to prove suitable to fully power NITEs A/C system.

Our efficient 72-pound cooling system fits any truck and operates independently of the trucks electrical system. The purpose of using the Oasis battery is to allow drivers to simply switch on power for their sleeper cabs A/C and shut off their engines overnight.

The battery will be displayed at Bergstroms booth # 2921 and the Firefly Energy booth #2928 at the ATAs TMC Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition, Feb. 4-7, 2008, at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, FL.

Firefly Energy Senior Vice President and Co-Founder Mil Ovan said the Oasis battery will deliver deeper and more reliable discharges and faster recharges. It will also save significantly on battery weight and size, with less frequent replacement intervals. We believe competitive deep-cycle batteries used in trucking start to show sizeable performance drop-offs after some 200 deep discharge cycles.

"Anti-diesel engine idling regulations are being enforced across the country, he added. By agreeing to co-market the NITE system alongside the Oasis battery, Bergstrom and Firefly Energy aim to provide the trucking industry with a powerful one-two solution to achieving long-lasting sleeper cab comfort, fuel savings, and pollution reduction.

Firefly Energys battery, co-winner of the 2007 Technology Innovation Award from The Wall Street Journal, features a high surface area, non-corrodible and light weight Microcell foam material. Firefly Energys microcell battery electrodes unleash the high power potential of lead acid chemistry which was impossible to achieve in the past. This technology reduces the lead content and allows the batteries to be more powerful yet lighter. Improved discharging and recharging significantly extends the batterys life, making it more environmentally friendly, and less expensive than lithium and nickel battery chemistries.

Ovan said the Oasis battery will provide up to 50 percent longer run-times than competitors when powering accessories which collectively make up a trucks hotel loads.

The Oasis battery will be valuable to NITE system owners because they will achieve continuous power through the discharge process, a fast recharge to 100 percent capacity and excellent vibration resistance. Overall battery life is extended since sulfation is reduced.

Firefly Energy announced earlier that initial quantities of the first Oasis batteries will be available this summer, with full production scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2008.

Additional characteristics of the Oasis battery include:

Energy Density Because the Firefly design utilizes efficient, high-surface area microcell foam, more of the available chemistry can be engaged, leading to greater efficiencies in weight and size.

Heat dissipation Batteries with Microcell electrodes instead of heavy lead plates are able to transfer heat out of the battery as rapidly as it is generated. Operating heat of the battery is lower, is also generated more uniformly, and is dissipated more rapidly, resulting in longer battery life in many applications.

Vibration resistance The low mass of Fireflys microcell foam electrodes along with the better retention of the chemistry within the pores of the foam help make the Oasis battery more resistant to vibration.

About Firefly Energy (www.fireflyenergy.com)

Firefly Energy Inc. (Firefly) is a Peoria, Illinois-based battery technology company developing a portfolio of products soon to enhance battery performance within major portions of the battery marketplace, now estimated at $30 billion worldwide. The companys first innovation is a microcell-foam based battery technology. Batteries available from Firefly in 2008 can deliver a unique combination of high performance, extremely low weight and low cost, all within a battery which utilizes the best aspects of lead acid chemistry while overcoming the corrosive drawbacks of using lead alone. Fireflys patented microcell foam technology delivers to battery markets a level of performance achieved with advanced battery chemistries (Nickel Metal Hydride and Lithium) but at one-fifth the cost. Microcell battery products can be manufactured as well as recycled within the existing lead acid battery industrys vast infrastructure. The company won the prestigious R&D 100 award from R&D magazine in 2007 and was a co-winner along with Los Alamos National Laboratories of the 2007 Technology Innovation Award presented by The Wall Street Journal. Firefly is backed by multi-billion dollar product companies such as Caterpillar (www.cat.com) NYSE: CAT), BAE Systems (www.baesystems.com) (London Stock Exchange over the counter symbol: BAESY), and Husqvarna (www.husqvarna.com Other OTC: HSQVY.PK). Additional investors include Chicago-area Venture Capital firm KB Partners (www.kbpartners.com) and the State of Illinois Illinois Finance Authority.
